Student Affairs Staff

Tracey Bolen is the Director of Student Affairs in the Labovitz School of Business and Economics. As a graduate of the Labovitz School of Business and Economics, Tracey Bolen can relate to the trials and tribulations that business students encounter as they progress through their academic careers. Because he has experienced the realities of the LSBE curriculum, he can provide anecdotal experiences in his explanation to students about both educational and career goals/objectives.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting degree in 1989 and worked as an accountant in industry performing cost and financial accounting, pricing, and internal auditing for 2 ½ years before coming to LSBE in 1991. In 1999 he obtained a Masters degree in Liberal Studies. In addition to advising and providing service to business students, he has also taught SSP 1000 - Intro to College Learning and LSBE 1101 - The Business Environment throughout his time with the Student Affairs Office.
He serves on the School's Undergraduate Committee and has been the Chair of the committee for Awards, Recognition, and Excellence for the past eight years. He also contributes to the campus community by serving on the Professional Staff Council and various subcommittees of the Campus Assembly. He greatly enjoys interacting with the students and managing the student services provided by the Student Affairs Office.

Candy Furo has worked at UMD for over 25 years, the last twenty years in the Labovitz School of Business
and Economics. Currently, she is the Associate Administrator for the MBA Program and an academic advisor for the
Student Affairs Office. She serves on the UMD Commencement Committee, Professional Advisor's Team, LSBE's Graduate
Committee and Constitution Committee. Candy also is an instructor for the "Introduction to College Learning"
course offered to freshman each fall.

Kurt Guidinger is an Assistant Academic Advisor in the Student Affairs Office. Kurt received his Bachelors degree in Psychology from Marquette University and his Masters degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. Kurt worked for three years in the UMTC Ombudsman Office while in graduate school.
He worked for several years in the private sector for MDA Leadership Consulting, Inc. His primary duties with MDA involved performing pre-employment psychological assessments for profit, non-profit, educational and government clients. Although successful in his private sector venture, he realized he missed the academic world. Consequently, in 2004 he accepted a position as an Academic Advisor at Lake Superior College in Duluth. Kurt will be joining the LSBE Student Affairs Office staff in August 2007.

MaryLynn Gunderson is a UMD graduate who started working in LSBE Student Affairs in 2003. In addition to collecting and monitoring student paperwork, she serves as the first contact point to current and prospective LSBE student. She answers questions and assists students in a helpful manner . . . often putting smiles on their faces. She enjoys the up-beat and high energy environment of the Student Affairs Office. She serves on the LSBE Committee for Awards, Recognition, and Excellence and the Registrar's Advisory Committee.
