Math 1141 Mathematics for Elementary Education -- Includes a 1 hour weekly computer lab and a 1-hour weekly exploration lab.

Credits: 4

Prerequisites: Pre-Elem Ed major, Math ACT 22 or higher or a grade of at least C- in Math 1005 or department consent

Grading: A-F only

Course Description:
This course consists of lectures, explorations, and labs emphasizing subject matter for effective teaching at the elementary school level, including problem solving strategies, set, functions, logic, structure of number systems, integers and number theory, rational numbers as fractions, exponents, decimals, algebraic thinking, word problems, probability, and properties of geometric figures. Lectures will focus on topics from the text. Exploration and computer labs will compliment lectures providing hands-on experience with manipulatives, Logo, Geometer's Sketchpad, and mathematics applications.
