Third place will receive a $100 cash prize and a $30 University Bookstores gift certificate
Teachers of the top 3 students will each receive a $100 cash prize to be used in their classroom
The winner of the State competition may be eligible to compete in the U.S. National Brain Bee competition, which will be held during March in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to the competition, students in the National Brain Bee participate in activities at the National Museum of Health and Medicine, tour the National Institutes of Health, participate in lectures given by noted neuroscientists and are eligible to win thousands of dollars in prizes.
NOTE: Previous first place winners of the Minnesota State Brain Bee competition are eligible to compete in the state competition again. However, if they have competed in the National or International Brain Bee before, they cannot do so again, and, therefore, they cannot represent Minnesota in the U.S. national competition. The Minnesota representative in the National Brain Bee will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Baltimore for him/herself and a chaperone and a 1 year subscription to NeuroTime, a web-based neuroanatomy resource.
All students will get the chance during the day to tour the laboratories of University of Minnesota neuroscientists
