Toxicology continues to be one of the most rapidly growing fields of advanced scientific training. This interest reflects expanding public awareness of potential or perceived threats to our health posed by chemicals synthesized for consumption or being released into the environment. The government has responded to this increasing demand for accountability for consumers' health and the preservation of the environment by instituting more rigorous safeguards. Corporations, in turn, are devoting more resources to insure compliance with these increasing regulatory mandates. All of this translates into a growing demand for professionally trained toxicologists, in academia, governmental regulatory agencies, and private industry. The University of Minnesota Toxicology Graduate Program is devoted to training students to fill these needs.
