To provide an effective learning enviroment for all children based on
mutual, personal, and cultural respect. To develop and implement a
culturally specific curriculm that meets the needs of all students in the
Duluth Public Schools. To serve as a resource center for educational
materials pertaining ot African and African American History and Culture.

Center for African American Unity
To build an organization which addresses issues of concern for African
Americans in Duluth. The center provides cultural, spiritual, and
motivational support to it's members. To provide an opportunity for our
youth to excel by promoting self-esteem while building leadership skills
and cultural awareness. Some programs sponsored by CAAU include the
African American Youth Leadership Training Initiative, Juneteenth
Celebration March in Minneapolis, Drum & Drill Team for Youth, Sixties

People
The mission of the NAACP Duluth branch is consistent with the efforts of
the national organization. The Duluth branch seeks to eliminate racial
prejudice; to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of racial
prejudice; to keep the public aware of adverse effects of racial
discrimination; and endeavors to impove the political, educational,
social, and economical conditions for the minority group citizens, by
raising public consciousness and asserting public pressure. For more
