Black Student Association

Who We Are

BSA helps unite students of African, African American, and Caribbean descent and serves as a link to the greater Black community in Duluth and surrounding areas. It increases awareness and appreciation for Black history and works as a unified force toward enhancing the conditions and environment for Black students on campus.

Mission and Goals

Our goal is to increase and promote awareness through education:
 Foster close relationship of students of African American, African, and Caribbean
descent on the UMD campus, while creating an environment that fosters a safe and
healthy environment for Black /African and African American students at UMD.
 Serve as a link between the African American Community in the Twin Ports area and the UMD campus.
 Collaborate with other student organization at UMD, campuses around the Twin Ports area, and other campuses in the Nation; in order to create a relationship to develop and sustain partnership.
 Advance Cultural Diversity & Social Justice at UMD.
 Promotes awareness of different issues on campus and in the surrounding Duluth
 Create Leadership opportunities.
