Scholarships

The following are all scholarships available for the African American, Asian/Pacific American, and Latino/Chicano Student Programs as well as for those with disabilities as well. Please read below for detailed descriptions of each scholarships in addition to qualifications.

Clayton-Jackson McGhie African American Scholarship

Awarded to incoming African American first-year students each year. To qualify, student must show excellent academic performance, community involvement, and financial need.

Harry Oden Scholarship

Awarded to sophomore, junior, and senior college students from underrepresented ethnic populations and students with disabilities to allow their studies to continue at UMD.

Morton S. Katz Scholarship

Awarded to students based on their contribution to diversity, high academic achievement, academic potential, demonstrated leadership, creativity, and community involvement.

President's Distinguished Student Scholarship

Awarded to students based on their contribution to diversity, high academic achievement, academic potential, and demonstrated leadership and community involvement.

Susana Pelayo-Woodward Scholarship

Awarded to good-standing Latino/Chicano sophomore, junior, or senior college students to allow their studies to continue at UMD.

LSBE Susana Pelayo-Woodward Scholarship

Award is a minimum of one $500 scholarship available for an accounting, finance, or management information systems major in good standing in the UMD Labovitz School of Business and Economics with a preference given to students with Latino/Chicano heritage and background who show financial need.

The Office of Equity and Diversity's Scholarly in Equity and Diversity (SEED) Awards program honors and acknowledges diverse students who are doing outstanding work at the University of Minnesota, both in and out of the classroom. For more information, visit: https://diversity.umn.edu.seedawards

Outside Scholarships

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program provides scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. These scholarships are administered in partnership with the Jackie Robinson Foundation's Education and Leadership Development Program. LapPro.com will be awarding $2000 three times annually. Scholarships are open to all Hispanic and bilingual students, LatPro Scholarship.
