Admissions

Campus Tour Guides will give you a tour of the UMD campus and residence halls.

American Sign Language

What type of profession gets to learn about rock climbing, sees a real brain and participates in UMD plays?
Come and find out about sign language and interpreting.

Facilities Management-Heating Plant

Discover secret passageways at UMD. Learn about the science of steam. Participants will learn how to use a laser thermometer and tour the chiller and heating plants. Everyone will also receive a pair of ear plugs.

Facilities Management

Learn what we do in Facilities Management for the campus. You will also learn a little history on Architectural drawings. How we keep records of our utilities on a Map. How we work with departments on remodeling projects. Then we let you do some hands on drafting on the computer, and print out their work.

Auxiliary Services/ UCard Office

Financial Aid/Registrar's Office will issue a U-card between 7:30-8:00 a.m. to all children participating. Go to the U-Card Office in Kirby Plaza .

Career Services

What do I want to be when I grow up?

Come and explore options for your future. It's not too early to start looking! The workshop will take place in UMD's Career Services.

Library

Come find out what a librarian does at the UMD Library. Learn about answering reference questions along with buying and cataloguing books.

UMD Stores

Participants will have the opportunity to tour the store facilities and learn what takes place in each area on a day to day basis.  They will then be assigned to an area to help stock merchandise and provide customer service.

First Year Experience and Students in Transition

How can students all talk to a professor at the same time when there are hundreds of students in the class? How does UMD know what students need most when they come to college? The technology called “clickers” helps students tell us about themselves. Come find out how the clickers work, how the clickers are used at UMD, and ask questions of others in the workshop. This is an interactive presentation.

Discover what happens behind the scenes at an art museum.  Where's the art kept? Who decides what art is displayed? How do we tell the stories of these priceless works of art?
