Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival
It is my pleasure to announce that the 41st annual Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival will be held on the UMD campus, Friday and Saturday, March 7th and 8th, 2014. This Festival will be non-competitive in nature, offering positive, learning-based experiences for young jazz ensembles and many outstanding performances.

Superstar names such as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Perter Erskine, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder and many, many, many legends pack his world-class resume. Splitting his time between Los Angeles, and New York, Bob’s forged working relationships with the best musicians on both coasts.
» » Also in concert on Friday, March 8th will be the Art Lande Trio featuring Bruce Williamson on reeds and Johannes Weidenmeuller playing bass! This will be a VERY special evening of improvised music in Weber Music Hall not to be missed. Grammy-nominated Art Lande is an internationally known pianist, composer, improviser, drummer and educator who has performed with a long list of the Who's Who in jazz, including Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw, Bobby Hutcherson, Steve Swallow, Charlie Haden, Kenny Wheeler, Sheila Jordan, Mark Isham, Paul McCandless, Jan Garbarek and many others.
