Two of verismo’s most beloved operas, Suor Angelica by Puccini and Pagliacci by Leonvacallo represent the beauty and the tragedy that make opera so moving. In Puccini’s tragic story, Angelica is a woman who is banished to the
convent by her family when she has a child out of wedlock. When she finds out that her child has died, she realizes she has no more reason to live. Pagliacci is the story of revenge. When a man discovers that his wife is having an affair, he takes the matter into his own hands. This double bill is not to be missed!
