The School of Fine Arts

The UMD Department of Music is part of Minnesota's only School of Fine Arts, a collegiate unit dedicated to preparing students for a career in the arts. Because the School of Fine Arts includes the Departments of Music, Art, Theatre, the beautiful Tweed Museum of Art, and the Historic Glensheen Mansion, music students at UMD are surrounded by fellow artists who understand the needs and aspirations of the developing professional. Cooperative efforts such as concerts in theTweed Museum, jazz concerts featuring contemporary dance performances, and muscal theater productions are an integral part of the artistic life at UMD.
