UMD ANNOUNCES 1999-2000 STUDY IN ENGLAND PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS

Forty-five students are participating in the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Study in England Program for the 1999-2000 school year. The program offers students an opportunity to enrich their college experience by spending an entire academic school year abroad Classes began September 13, 1999 and will end May 23, 2000.

Students will spend the 1999-2000 academic year at Westhill college in Birmingham, England, 110 miles northwest of London. Robert H. Evans, associate professor of philosophy and head of the UMD Department of Philosophy, is the program director. All of Westhill College facilities, library, computer lab, recreational and social areas, are available to UMD Study in England participants.

The program participants must be current UMD students or students from other universities who are admissible to UMD. Students must have completed 38 quarter credits, and an Introduction to Britain offering. Students must maintain a grade point average of at least 2.4 while a Study in England participant.

UMD faculty members form the core of the instructional staff. Their course offerings are complemented by those of British faculty members. All courses are offered for University of Minnesota credit.

UMD Study in England participants may take advantage of weekends and term breaks to travel to cities and historic areas within the British Isles and Europe.
