University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Names New Dean of College of Science and Engineering

James P. Riehl has been named Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), it was announced today by Vincent Magnuson, Vice Chancellor of Academic Administration.

Dr. Riehl received his Ph. D. in Physical Chemistry from Purdue University and was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Virginia. He most recently held the position of Professor and Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan.

He will assume his duties at UMD on August 1.

The UMD College of Science and Engineering has an enrollment of 2030 students, a faculty of 111 professors, and is one of five undergraduate colleges on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus. CSE offers baccalaureate programs in science, mathematics and engineering, and its students are drawn from the top third of their high school graduating class.
