UMD Library To Host "Meet The Author" Event
Anishinaabe Poet, Denise Sweet

The UMD Library will host a "Meet The Author" event December 3 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the UMD fourth floor library rotunda. Anishinaabe poet Denise Sweet will be the featured author.

The title of Sweet's presentation will be "Who We Are - What Is Ours". She will read from her work and create a dialogue with participants about "the importance of the oral repositories of communities". A book signing will follow Sweet's presentation.

Denise Sweet is an Associate Professor of Human Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and chair of the American Indian Studies Department. She teaches creative writing, literature and mythology.

This event is sponsored by the UMD Library, UMD Commission on Women, UMD American Indian Learning Resource Center, the Ruth A. Myers Endowed Chair in American Indian Education, UMD Department of American Indian Studies, and the American Library Association's "Live at Your Library" program.

This event is free and open to the public.
