Congressman Oberstar to Speak at UMD Forum
" Cultural and Global Perspectives on Terrorism" Forum
Set for Tuesday, February 19


Congressman James Oberstar will be one of four speakers at the second UMD forum on "Cultural and Global Perspectives on Terrorism"set for Tuesday, February 19 from noon to 1 p.m. in the UMD Kirby Student Center Ballroom. The presentation is free and the public is welcome.

Forum speakers and topics are:
Congressman James Oberstar--Policies and practices in air travel following the September 11th disaster
UMD Associate Professor Helen Rallis--Africa and Nelson Mandela
UMD Professor Subhash Basak--History and conflict between India and Pakistan (over Kashmir)
Shehriyar Rahmatoo--Uzbekistan and internal cultural conflicts

The UMD "Cultural and Global Perspectives on Terrorism"project is sponsored by the deans of UMD's five colleges, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Administration, and the Kirby Student Center. A third forum will be held in March, with a two-day conference planned for April.
