UMD Announces Retirement of Five Faculty Members

Bernard DeRubeis is a Professor and Director for Master of Environmental Health and Safety. He began his career at UMD as an instructor in 1964. Professor DeRubeis has served many positions at UMD including, the Department Head of Industrial and Technical Studies, and also the Director of Master of Environmental Health and Safety, which he helped found in 1974. Professor DeRubeis' major research area in behavioral aspects of safety has led him to help develop the Minnesota Perception Survey. He has also been very active with service to professional safety organizations including, the Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association.

June Kreutzkampf is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education and has taught at UMD since 1980. Professor Kreutzkampf has served many roles at UMD including, Department Head of Home Economics and Department Head of Instructional Science. She has made numerous presentations at national and international conferences, and has served on the Minnesota Education Association State Board of Directors for 10 years. Professor Kreutzkampf was a recipient of three service awards for the international Phi Delta Kappa, a college advising award, and multiple Who's Who awards.

Edmond Lundstrom is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation and has taught at UMD since 1964. Professor Lundstrom has served many positions during his 41 years at UMD including, Interim Dean and Associate Dean of the College of Education and Human Service Professions. He also served as the Department Head of Health, Physical Education and Recreation from 1978 to 1991. During his tenure as Department Head he presided over the construction and remodeling of the Sports and Health Center which was completed in 1988.

Donald Steinnes is a Professor in the Department of Economics and has taught at UMD since 1975. Professor Steinnes was also the Director of the SBE Bureau of Business and Economic Research from 1983 to 1988. He published more than 50 articles in Professional Journals, presented a like number of papers at professional meetings, and received more than thirty research grants during the course of his career. His early research efforts dealt with recreation and location analysis in the general area of regional and urban economics, while his later efforts dealt with the analysis of seasonal and permanent migration of the elderly in the general area of gerontological economics.

Neil Storch is a Professor in the Department of History and has taught at UMD since 1969. His interest in the American Revolution, local and church history led to a co-editorship of "Upper Midwest History" and co-authorship of a book entitled, "UMD Comes of Age: The First One Hundred Years." Above all, Professor Storch's main interest includes serving his students. His teaching and advising has been recognized twice by Who's Who Among America's Teachers and he has received several UMD Student Association awards including, "Outstanding Academic Adviser," "Outstanding Faculty," and "Outstanding Adviser to a Student Organization." He was also the recipient of the "Chancellor's Outstanding Adviser Award."
