UMD and Mn/DOT to Host Fourth Annual Transportation Research Day
November 3

UMD Northland Advanced Transportation Systems Research Laboratories (NATSRL) will showcase its on-going transportation research efforts at Mn/DOT District One Headquarters, at 1123 Mesaba Avenue, beginning at 8:30 a.m.until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 3. The public is cordially invited.

University faculty and student researchers will present synopses of their research projects on new tools, technical data, and sensor usage to manage traffic and road conditions.

NATSRL was established in 2001 to address transportation-related issues to the northern climates and small urban areas. Some of the current projects that will be discussed include the Transportation Data Center, the renewable energy light pole, and the gravel road traffic counter.

In addition, updates will also be presented on current several studies, such as the development of software to detect sensor malfunctions, fleet asset life cycle costing, and analysis of various road sensors and loop detectors. A presentation on the development of vibration techniques to assess the conditions of rural bridges will also be included in the program.

For more information, please call the NATSRL Program Office at 726-7446/8651
