Dr. Alfie Kohn to Speak on
"The Deadly Effects of Tougher Standards"
The UMD Department of Education presents Dr. Alfie Kohn, perhaps the country's most outspoken critic of education's fixation on grades and test scores, Thursday, February 23 at 1 p.m. in the Marshall Performing Arts Center on the UMD campus. The lecture is fee and the public is cordially invited.
Dr Kohn's presentation is titled "The Deadly Effects of Tougher Standards: Challenging High-Stakes Testing and Other Impediments to Learning".
Dr. Kohn is the author of ten books including Punished by Rewards, The Schools our Children Deserve, and Unconditional Parenting.
