UMD Professor's Photography Featured at
International Art Exhibit

Photography by Professor Gloria DeFilipps Brush, UMD Department of Art & Design, will be part of an international digital art exhibition, "The Art of Digital Show", at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter from Oct. 6-Nov. 11, 2007.

DeFilipps Brush's work will be part of a highly competitive 104-piece collection, selected from 2,796 submitted entries by artists from 40 different countries.

The second annual "The Art of Digital Show" will include 83 framed fine art pieces, 18 video art pieces, a 3D modeled sculpture, a digitally designed textile piece, and an interactive piece -- creating a distinctive exhibition environment.

The featured pieces were selected by Neal Benezra, director of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). The works of art for the exhibition were chosen based on "imagination, original vision, sophistication, message, content, creativity and technical skill."

An estimated 20,000 people are expected to view "The Art of Digital Show" during the five-week run.
