UMD to Present
"A Look in the Mirror: The Memoir of a Deaf Performer"

UMD will present "A Look in the Mirror: The Memoir of a Deaf Performer" written and performed by Nic Zapko, November 13, at 7 p.m. in UMD Bohannon Hall 90.

The event will be performed in American Sign Language. Patty Gordon will be voice interpreting. The event is sponsored by UMD Access for All, a student organization dedicated to promoting disability awareness on campus and around the community.

The event is free and the public is cordially invited.

The performance is recommended for ages 13+ and will be 90 minutes in length, completed with no intermission. A reception in the Tweed Museum will follow with snacks and refreshments included.

Ms. Zapko, born Deaf, tells her story of growing up in an environment of tolerance, acceptance and understanding. Her story, involving the death of her mother and her road toward hope and redemption, comes after an encounter with a theater company. Ms. Zapko tells her true-life story of loss, despair and redemption.
