UMD to Host "Live" Webcast with Actress Hilary Swank
and Director Mira Nair
October 16
Free and Open to the Public

Hosted at UMD by New York Times Educational Director, Felice Nudelman

Get inside access to one of the most anticipated film events of the year, at a "live" webcast with two-time Oscar winning actress Hilary Swank and acclaimed director Mira Nair. One week before the release of the movie "Amelia," UMD will host the live presentation of "Times Talks" sponsored by The New York Times.

The event takes place on the UMD campus Friday, October 16th, beginning at 6:15 p.m. in Montague Hall 70. The event is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Felice Nudelman, Executive Director of Educational Initiatives of the New York Times, will be at UMD to introduce the webcast presentation, and (from New York) cultural reporter Patricia Cohen will serve as moderator.

Learn how Ms. Swank prepared for the movie role of celebrated aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, who was the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic and the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross. Discussions will also deal with what conclusions Ms. Nair drew in reconstructing the much-publicized events of Earhart's mysterious disappearance while on a flight in the central Pacific on July 2, 1937.

The audience will be invited to participate in this unique opportunity to interact with Ms. Swank and Ms. Nair during a question and answer period.
