UMD Civil Engineering Infrastructure Demonstration

A civil engineering demonstration testing indirect tension of concrete beams and cylinders will be held between from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 in the Infrastructure Materials Lab (main floor) of the Swenson Civil Engineering building. Assistant Professor, Eshan V. Dave will lead the class and the demonstration. UMD Civil Engineering professor and department head, Andrea Schokker, will speak about the Civil Engineering program at 1 p.m.

The Civil Engineering building houses state-of-the-art classroom and laboratory facilities:

Professor and Department Head Andrea Schokker

Professor and Head of the UMD Department of Civil Engineering, Schokker is a structural engineer focusing in the area of design and material related improvements for prestressed concrete structures. Her main interest is in post-tensioned segmental bridges. She also works in the area of durability of concrete structures and cementitious based materials for blast and impact resistance. With over 40 refereed journal articles and conference proceedings, Schokker began teaching at UMD after nine years as a professor and director at Pennsylvania State University.
