School of Fine Arts Dean Has Been Named

Dr. William PayneDr. William Payne
Dr. William Payne, UMD Interim Dean of the School of Fine Arts (SFA), and Professor in the Department of Theater at UMD since 1993, has been named the SFA Dean.

Dr. Payne began his duties on May 7, and he brings an impressive list of accomplishments in his field. He is the Co-Founder of the American Blues Theater Company in Chicago (founded in 1985). He has been a strong participant in the New York Times Knowledge Network, is a Seven Revolutions Scholar with the American Democracy Project, and is a leader in Civic Engagement activities.
