Public Invited to Northland Community Wellness Day

DULUTH, MN – The 4th annual Northland Community Wellness Day will be held at the UMD Romano Gym on Saturday, April 27, 11 am–3 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Also parking will be free on campus (meters, maroon lots and pay lots).

This year's keynote speaker is Paul Batz, a Minnesota author. He will speak about faith, family, finances, fitness, friends, fun and future, as he describes in his book, What Really Works, Blending the Seven Fs for the Life You Image! Batz will present at 1 p.m. in the Marshall Performing Arts Center.

Dori Decker, UMD health educator, encourages everyone to take advantage of all that Wellness Day offers. "Northland Community Wellness Day is an event designed to connect community members with local wellness resources and to provide something for the whole family: fun, information, and inspiration," she said.

In addition to the keynote speaker, 50 exhibitors will be on hand to provide information about such subjects as health and fitness, public safety, environmental awareness, and financial literacy. Rock-climbing will be offered, and there will be a variety of children's activities with UMD athletes.

The Northland Community Wellness Day is an annual event supporting healthy families and communities, which is done through education and awareness.

In the spirit of community, Northland Community Wellness Day is a collaborative event coordinated by UMD Health Services, St. Louis County and the City of Duluth Bridge to Wellness. Campus partners include Recreation Sports Outdoor Program, UMD Athletics, KUMD, and UMD Stores.

Community sponsors are Holistic Health and Healing, Essentia Health, Whole Foods Co-op, Duluth Grill, Duluth Dodge, Duluth Sign, Wells Fargo, and KBJR 6/Range 11.
