GLBT National Coming Out Day Luncheon

Duluth, MN — GLBT Services will hold a National Coming Out Day Luncheon in the University of Minnesota Duluth Kirby Ballroom on October 8 from 12–1 p.m. The annual event supports and celebrates the GLBTQA community.

This year, the speakers are: two undergraduate students Blaine Hanson and Jace Carlson, and Hispanic/Latino/Chicana Student Services Director Chris Davila. Kathy Heltzer is the event’s Master of Ceremonies. Entertainment will be provided by Beth Esselstrom on piano, and musicians Sara Thomsen and Paula Pedersen.

Hanson will share his experiences at the U.S. Gay Games where he won two gold medals and broke two Minnesota state Power Lifting records.

National Coming Out Day, traditionally held on October 11, is an internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating individuals who publicly identify as a gender or sexual minority.

The event is sponsored by the UMD GLBTQA Advisory Commission.

GLBTQA stands for: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Allied
