Modify your awards or eligibility
Changing your aid
- Decline or request a work-study award, contact One Stop
- Add a new loan
- Change your loan amount
- Find scholarships
- Bring in a scholarship check
There are a few cases in which you may want to contact One Stop and explain your own extenuating circumstances.
Special circumstances
If you or your family have experienced a significant change in your financial situation we invite you to review your situation with a One Stop counselor. One Stop may be able to reevaluate your financial aid eligibility in light of situations such as job or income loss, divorce or separation, death in the family, or other unusual circumstances. Additional aid or loan options may be available to help address your situation.
Cost of attendance adjustment
In certain cases One Stop can work with you to document costs that differ from the standard cost of attendance. This is only useful in unique cases, and an adjustment in costs doesn't always lead to additional aid. However, it is standard practice for students studying abroad, for instance.
Dependency status
Dependency status defines the degree to which your parents are viewed as responsible for your education. Read the Federal definition of an independant student and take a look at the limited circumstances that can be documented to appeal your status.
