2006 MPS Program
2006 MPS Program with Abstracts
The over 20 sessions are organized along thematic tracks through the day. Each session is just under an hour; commentators act as chairs. Lunch and annual business meeting at noon.
Please discuss the possibility of hosting the 2007 or 2008 annual meeting, or the student meeting, with your colleagues prior to the business meeting. UMD expects to be hiring for a Spring 2007 full-time one semester philosophy position; we would be glad to meet with prospective candidates.

UMD provided directions and campus maps:
Campus Directions
Our directions to MPS parking on UMD campus:
We expect that most will be coming into Duluth on I-35. Come north on I-35 through downtown Duluth
and through the tunnels.
Take exit "21st Avenue East". (for reference: I35 ends at 26th Ave E). Turn left at STOP at top of ramp and continue up the hill on 21st
Ave E (through all signals), and at first STOP sign follow majority of traffic to right onto
Woodland Avenue.
Turn left at the third signal, on to St. Marie Street. UMD
campus is about 4 blocks up St. Marie on the left, just past the first traffic
signal.
Turn left at the STOP sign. Parking lot will be on your left, and library (3
stories tall, brick, with copper dome at NE corner) will be further ahead on your left. Turn at first left, between parking lot "E" and library. Park in Lot E (open parking on weekends) and enter the library at the dome.
Inside UMD:
Walk past the inside library entrance on your right and continue walking up the long
hall past the TCF bank on your right.
As you pass the coffee shop on your left,
take stair case on right to 3rd (top) floor. There is also an elevator to
your right, hidden behind the staircase (enter short hall on right just before the
staircase).
"The Rafters", refreshment, and registration will be on your right
on the top floor of Kirby Student Center. We will have lunch in The Rafters;
session rooms are nearby.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The date was chosen in hopes of Fall Color, other than white. Looks like we will have white!
We suggest booking rooms in advance.
Recommended hotels include The Edgewater (on London Road); Fitgers Inn, the Radisson and the Holiday Inn (all downtown), and the hotels near the lift bridge in Canal Park. There are also many less expensive motels, including a decent Super 8.
Duluth is easy to get around in; most hotels are within 15 minutes of campus.
There is a useful guide to Duluth hotels with prices and user ratings at Yahoo.
There are "special rates" at some local hotels for U events here.
