UMD Astronomy Club

Marshall W. Alworth PlanetariumThe UMD Student Astronomy Club meets in the Planetarium every other Wednesday evening at 7pm. It is an informal club that usually just hangs out in the planetarium. All you need to bring with you is some interest in Astronomy and be prepared to meet some fun new people! There are also opportunities to participate in other planetarium activities, such as giving a presentation at the planetarium, (maybe even a Wednesday public show!) and observation nights with the Arrowhead Astronomical Society. The Club also helps plan Astronomy Day every year. Astronomy Day is an all day event at the planetarium that usually brings in about 500 people.

Some plans the club has for this year include possible field trips to: Yorkes Observatory, observing with the AAS, Paulucci Space Theatre, and the Soudan Mine.
