Our Place in Space: Astronomical Impacts on Earth
Mark you calendars for April 26th, 2008, we will be celebrating National Astronomy Day at the Marshall W Alworth Planetarium. We will start at 10 AM with dark-sky shows, full-dome videos, remotely delivered presentations by the Hayden Planetarium, New York City, lectures, demonstrations, booths, workshops on buying and using telescopes, and more! Also join us for the special mission to divert an asteroid on a collision course with Earth: Killer Asteroid, Mission to Save Planet Earth! The fun will continue with giveaways, astrophotography demonstrations, solar observing, and night observing. The festivities will run all day and will be wrapped up with a keynote address by Dr. Lawrence Rudnick, Professor of Physics and Astronomy, University of Minnesota Twin Cities. It should be a fun day for all ages so come and join in on the fun!
