Astronomy Day is April 28, 2012
Join us for our annual Astronomy Day event. We will have live shows in the planetarium dome and in the nearby lecture halls (see below for schedule). In addition to lectures, you can able to explore scale models the solar system and the universe as you walk through the halls of UMD. The day features the planetarium's most popular shows, including Astronomy Lessons from Star Wars, UFO's: Are We Alone, American Indian Skies and several others.
In addition to the live shows, there will be a lot to look at and do around the planetarium. We will have meteorites and telescopes on display, and there will be many people that can help you buy or use your telescope.
There will also be fun activities for kids, including an alien drawing competition, and a station for creating their very own spin-art spiral galaxy!. All events and activities are free for everyone! Raffle tickets, food and beverages will be sold.
