TIMELINES

January 2

Camp Applications Accepted - Applications for field camp will be considered on an equal basis from January 2 until April 17, 2008. After April 17th, applications will be considered on a first come-first serve basis until all available slots are filled. The slots currently available will be posted weekly on the 2008 field camp page. A $50 downpayment should accompany the field camp registration. Click here for field camp application instructions

April 18

Initial Notice of Acceptance - Applicants will be notified on this date by email of their acceptance into the field camp. Only 20 students will be accepted into the 2008 camp. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds this number, acceptance will be based on strength of academic record, application letter, and references. Those applicants who do not meet the minumum qualifications will be refunded their $50 registration deposit. Those who are qualified, but did not make the cut, can choose to have their registration deposit refunded or can be put on a waiting list should a spot become available. Applicants registering after April 18 will be notified of their acceptance within a week of receiving their applications.

Course Registration - Along with the notice of acceptance, applicants will be given a course permission number with which they may register for the course on-line at:

www.d.umn.edu/ce/summer/registration.html

NOTE: Although registration for UMD summer classes is possible after about March 1, please do not register until you have been officially notified of acceptance into the camp and recieved a course permission number.

Non-UMD students should follow instructions for registering as "visiting summer students". UMD students should register on-line, whereas non-UMD students should download the Summer Term Registration Form and fill in the requested information. Enter the course permission number where the applications requests a "U of MN I.D. NUMBER". It is recommended that you apply for undergraduate credit for this class as graduate credit is considerably more expensive and most graduate programs will not accept this course as part of your degree program.

On the second page of the registration form, the "courses requested" information is:
Subject Area: GEOL
Catalogue #: 4500
Section #: 02
Class #: leave blank
Title: Field Geology

Submit the course registration form to the Continuing Education office (address at top of registration form) by June 13, 2008.
