Professional Staff Council Meeting Minutes
May 12, 2006

Present: Linda Olcott, Gordee Bennett, Rick Brill, Judy Bromen, Karen Heikel, Linda Eastman, Jim Vileta

Absent: Elaine Hansen, Susan Hudec, Deb Wing, Tracey Bolen, Lisa Reeves, Dan Ellis, Lynn Burbank

Meeting was called to order at 9:01AM by Karen Heikel

Minutes for April were approved by Rick Brill with a second from Linda Esatman.

Reports:

Treasury Report: no report

Civil Service Committee:  e-InTouch newsletter has been sent out and elections are in progress.  One seat is open for a Duluth Civil Service employee to serve on the University Senate. PSC member Linda Eastman is a candidate.

A Milestone celebration will be held in the Twin Cities at Eastcliff on June 20^th for those employees celebrating anniversary's with the University.  Linda will coordinate rides for people wishing to travel to the Twin Cities for this event.

PSC Membership: Still waiting for Regents approval for the change in the Constitution which will then automatically trickle down to the PSC constitution to make 7xxx and 8xxx level Civil Service employees a part of UMD's professional staff. 

CAPA: no report.

University Senate: no report

Election Committee: With 125 employees casting votes, new members of the PSC are Rick Brill, Linda Eastman, Lita Wallace, Mara Spaeth, Shelly Jugovich and Jan Zigich.  Kathy Morris will represent the Professional Staff on the Educational Policy Committee for the next three years.  Rick will notify individuals who were not elected and Karen will send out a note to the PSC-info list.

New Business

Staff Recognition (Appreciation) Day: Judy Broman (Chair) and Linda Eastman are working on this event.  It is likely it will be held in the Ballroom.  The group decided on Monday August 28^th for the event.  This is the first day back for 10 month employees.  A beach theme is planned.
