Student Conference Presentations Spring 2006

The following students will be coauthors on poster and/or paper presentations in April and May, 2006:

McCarty, R. P.*, & Gordon, R. A. (2006, April). Attributional style and academic achievement: The moderational effect of self-monitoring. Poster accepted for presentation at the 20 th annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research, Asheville, NC.

Ryan McCarty is currently a junior psychology major.   The findings to be presented are from Mr. McCarty’s UROP project.


Gordon, R. A., McCaffrey, D.*, & Jasinski, D. (2006, May). Self-monitoring as a moderator of the relationship between attributional style and academic performance. Poster accepted for presentation at the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association, Chicago, IL.

Dan McCaffrey is currently completing a pre-doctoral fellowship at NIMH in neuropsychology.   This research is based on a portion of a thesis he conducted en route to his MBA at Quinnipiac University in 2005.


Gordon, R. A., Seminara, S. L.*, McCarty, R. P.*, & Barrus, K. A.* (2006, May). Comparative achievement feedback and academic performance:   The moderational effects of   academic attributional style. Poster accepted for presentation at the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association, Chicago, IL.

Stacy Seminara is a graduate from the psychology program in 2005 and will be entering the MSW program at UMD this year.   Krystle Barrus also graduated from our program in 2005 and is currently enrolled in the School Psychology M.S. program at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. The research is the second study to be presented from Ms. Seminara’s UROP investigation.


Owens, L.*, Herrmann, R.*, & Gordon, R. A. (2006, May). Self and other ratings of music preferences and personality. Poster accepted for presentation at the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association, Chicago, IL.

Luke Owens and Rachel Herrmann are currently senior psychology majors.   The presentation is based on a replication of their research project conducted during their enrollment in PSY3022.

Talia Strasser (UROP student, Senior Psychology Major   "Using the Five Factor Personality Model to Predict Performance and the Effect of Framing on the Strength of the Relationship"
