How online courses work
Each online course uses various features of WebVista (formerly WebCT Vista). WebVista is a course management system used to deliver web-based learning environments. Learn more about WebVista by visiting these sites:

While a virtual structure is provided within each course, at their simplest level these online individual instruction courses are independent study courses. Thus, a great deal of self-motivation and self-discipline is required for success. We strongly encourage you to:
- Set up a weekly schedule to help complete your course
- Practice good time management
- Meet required course deadlines
Once you register for a course, and the semester has started, you will need to log into the course by typing your "username" and "password" into the MyUMD Portal: http://myu.umn.edu
Visit this site to learn how to log into the MyUMD Portal and access your online course: http://www.d.umn.edu/itss/etrg/webct/Login.html
