Password Protection and Grading Procedures
Internet ID
The online courses offered by the Department of Psychology are password protected and therefore will require you to login using your UMD user ID and password...this is the same information used to access your UMD email.
If you are not a regular UMD student, once registered, you will need to activate your UMD user ID and password. Your UMD user ID is assigned to you a day or two after the first time you register with UMD. To activate your account go to this webpage and click "Account Initiation." You will need your social security number, student ID number and your birth date. (Your student ID number is on your billing statement, study list, or receipt you received when you registered).
Please check your course syllabus carefully to learn about the course, assignments, testing requirements, and deadlines
Grades
At the end of the semester/term, grades will be calculated and sent to the registrar as usual where you can view them online. If you have not completed ALL of the requirements, you will receive an "F" for the course. The only exception would involve serious illness (documented by a physician).
Incompletes and withdrawals
Our policy regarding incompletes and withdrawals is in accordance with the university´s policy. Some courses may vary due to various circumstances and preference by instructor/professor.
Plagiarism
The copying of an author´s words without acknowledging the author as the source of those words is considered plagiarism. This can occur with online courses when you are tempted to cut and paste material from an online article without proper attribution. If this occurs, it will result in an "F" for the course. We reserve the right to submit questionable work to an online service that checks for plagiarism.
