LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
OF THE ALUMNI BOARD

Greetings to UMD Alumni!

It is an exciting and remarkable time for the UMD Alumni Association. The Alumni Board is a committed and enthusiastic group focused on enhancing the University's image and visibility.

This year we will be pursuing work on the UMDAA strategic plan.We want to make a real contribution to our university and we want to give something back to the school that gave us a great education. Along with taking on strategic planning and several events this year, the Alumni Board will be taking a more active role in helping to raise funds for the university.

The annual phonathon will be taking place in March. When UMD students call you, I hope you will give generously to support the work of our alma mater.

There is plenty of work to go around. We will be filling a number of Alumni Board positions this year. If you know of alumni who have strong leadership skills and loyalty to the university, please contact Wendy Adams, the alumni director, and she will send you nomination forms. If you, yourself, are a person who is eager to serve, feel free to contact either Wendy or me.

The UMDAA, its Board and chapters are readying themselves for a great 1998. We are looking forward to playing a role in contributing to UMD's status as the best place to get a solid, well-rounded public university education in the upper midwest.

Please send your thoughts and suggestions to Thagen@Prodigy.net. or alumni@d.umn.edu.

Best Wishes in the New Year,

Tom Hagen
