The RSOP Fitness Center contains the latest cardiovascular and
weight training equipment. Highly trained staff are available
to motivate you on how to use the equipment effectively. For
individualized instruction, consider working with a personal
trainer. See page 15 for details.

Group Fitness
The UMD group fitness program is for students, faculty, staff
and community members who want a highly effective, safe and
fun fitness experience. We offer something for everyone with
over 30 classes a week. Attend as many classes a week that fits
your schedule. The first week is FREE! After that, a Group
Fitness Pass is required. See Group Fitness Pass Rates on page
5. Classes begin September 8 and continue through December
12. Up to date class schedule is available at our website and
RSOP Welcome Desk.

Weightroom & Cardioroom
Our new fitness center includes a cardio level (upper level, 157 SpHC)
and a free weight/selectorized machine level (lower level, 92 SpHC).
The
upper level contains expanded cardiovascular equipment including
ellipticals, recumbent cycles, upright cycles, steppers, treadmills
and rowing machines. The lower level includes Life Fitness,
Hammer Strength and Cybex selectorized machines, as well as a well
rounded free weight area. Identification Needed. Facility users must
carry the appropriate pass at all times. Hours are subject to change
by program need.

4-5pm Free! Meet at the RSOP Weightroom
- September 16 “Weightroom 101” Overview of the facility,
fitness options, and how to set goals. Achieve and maintain a
strong, fit body.
- September 30 “Sports Training” The best strength and cardio
strategies to bring your performance to the next level.
- October 14 “Don’t Get Stuck in the Machine” Learn how you
can develop 47% strength gain, stability, and tone with motion
training.
- October 28 “Burr, it’s Cold Outside” How to train in different
weather conditions. It’s getting colder outside, but don’t let that
prevent you from working out, outside.
- November 11 “Stressed? Let Us Help You” Exercise can help
reduce stress, but how? Learn how to lower your stress level by
running, lifting, and yoga. There are so many options.
- November 25 “Rosie the Riveter” For woman. Learn what
specific things women should pay attention to when working
out, and why exercise is so important.
- December 9 “Staying Fit Over the Holidays” Strategies for
keeping the weight off. We’ll walk you through suggestions on
how to make healthy choices over the holidays.

Homecoming 5K Trail Run
Saturday, October 11 10am
Everyone is welcome to join us for this annual 5K (3.1 mile)
Trail run in Bagley Nature Area. The rich fall colors, the crisp
air, and the fun homecoming atmosphere make this a must-do
activity.
Cost: $12 UMD Students/ $15 Others
Register By: 2pm October 6 for guaranteed t-shirt
Race day registration is welcome at Bagley Nature Area
PERSONAL TRAINING
If you want to improve your personal fitness level or you are
just getting started working out, you can hire one of RSOP’s
nationally certified personal trainers. Designed to educate,
motivate and provide a sound exercise program, the personal
training program is for all skill levels and abilities.
A typical personal training session may include:
• 10-minute warm-up on stationary bike
• 30-minute specific body-toning workout with weights
• 10 minute cool down and stretch.
• Your session could conclude with a 10-20 minute
conversation about your personal nutrition plan.
Your certified trainer will assure that your workouts are done
with your personal goals in mind.
Cost: $20/session for Facility Pass holders ($30 for all others -
community welcome!) Three session minimum
MASSAGE
Stressed out? Pain in the back? Low energy?
Get a massage. Massage Therapy is now available weekdays
8am-8pm, with some weekend hours as well.
Melt the tension away, let the pain come back some other day.
