Degree clearance
Students who have applied to graduate will have their files reviewed
after grades are posted for their final term. If all requirements are
met, the degree will be conferred and an unofficial transcript showing the degree will be mailed to them. If all the requirements are not met, students will receive a discrepancy letter explaining what is still required.
This process should be completed, for all students who have applied to
graduate, within six weeks after grades post.
Students will have their degree conferred with outstanding incompletes on their transcripts for courses that are not required for their degree. If a student wishes to have a permanent grade entered for any incomplete, and have the degree GPA reflect that grade, the grade must be changed within 30 days after the end of the term. After 30 days, if a grade is submitted, the degree GPA will not change; however, the cumulative GPA at the bottom of the U of M transcript will reflect the change.
No degree will be granted to a student with a financial hold on their record.
Students who wish to continue enrolling in courses after graduating
must enroll for those classes through Continuing Education, unless pursuing
a different degree. Courses taken through Continuing Education are generally
not financial aid eligible.
