Grading changes effective fall 1997
Effective fall 1997, the grading system changed from using the P-N
symbol to using the S-N symbol. The S represents satisfactory achievement
but does not carry grade points. The major change is that the amount
and quality of work required for an S may not be less than that required
for a grade of C. Instructors should define for the class at its earliest
meeting the performance necessary to earn an S.
There are two additional changes:
1. A bachelor's degree requires that at least 75% (135 quarter credits)
of the degree-qualifying resident credits carry various forms of A,
B, C, or D grades.
2. The grade point values will be:
| A |

4.00 |
| A- |

3.67 |
| B+ |

3.33 |
| B |

For all credits earned through SSII 1997, the grade point values will
be as shown in the 1995-97 University of Minnesota, Duluth Bulletin.
Your new cumulative GPA will be a mixture of the values.
