Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC)
The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) is a collaborative effort among public two-
and four-year colleges and universities in Minnesota to help
students transfer their work in general education. Completion of a defined
transfer curriculum at one institution enables a student to receive
credit for such work upon admission to any other participating institution.
This transfer curriculum consists of 10 areas of competency. Completion
of the MnTC is certified at the sending institution.
Transfering to UMD
Students who transfer to UMD with a completed MnTC are not required to complete
additional liberal education course work.
Competencies of the MnTC completed
elsewhere will satisfy equivalent competencies at
UMD.
Transfering out of UMD
UMD students intending to transfer with a completed MnTC to other Minnesota public colleges and universities must:
- Complete at least 40 semester credits. (These may include credits
transferred to UMD from another institution. A maximum of 10 credits of S-N courses apply to the MnTC.)
- Complete all 10 MnTC competencies at the time of transfer out of UMD. (Because MnTC competencies differ from the UMD liberal education categories, completing UMD's liberal education program does not necessarily imply the MnTC competencies are also complete.)
