General InformationThe University has reciprocity agreements with Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Manitoba. If you are a resident of any of these states or provinces, you may qualify for reciprocity tuition rates, which are lower than nonresident tuition rates and, in some cases, comparable to resident rates. You (graduate and undergraduate students) must apply for reciprocity prior to the term in which you plan to register. You will receive an approval letter from your home state when your reciprocity application has been approved. After your first year, provided that you have earned credits on campus, your reciprocity will automatically be renewed. Delays in your reciprocity eligibility will not exempt you from additional billing charges. The University is notified by your home state when your reciprocity agreement has been approved. However, if your billing statement does not reflect your reciprocity tuition, bring your approval letter to the Student Assistance Center and obtain an adjusted registration statement. For information and application forms, check with your home state's reciprocity office. You can also obtain application forms and information in the Admission Office, 25 Solon Campus Center or the Student Assistance Center, 23 Solon Campus Center. FeesThe Wisconsin reciprocity agreement applies only to tuition rates. The University of Minnesota may charge institutional fees to Wisconsin reciprocity students, including $600.00 per semester University fee. Wisconsin residents enrolled in extension or distance learning courses offered by Minnesota institutions in Wisconsin are not covered under the reciprocity agreement, nor are Wisconsin residents enrolled in courses, programs or institutions that do not charge a non-resident tuition rate but charge a tuition rate other than than the resident rate to all students enrolled in the course, program, or institution, regardless of state of residence.
Note: Those students eligible for the Wisconsin Reciprocity Supplement must apply for reciprocity to receive it. North Dakota, South Dakota, and ManitobaStudents from these states are charged the Minnesota resident tuition rate (see University of Minnesota Duluth 2009-2010 Semester Tuition and Fee Rates). MSEP States (Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska) The University's new nonresident tuition rates are lower than those under the existing reciprocity agreement with the Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP). Effective fall 2008, students from MSEP states will pay the lower nonresident tuition rate (see University of Minnesota Duluth 2009-2010 Semester Tuition and Fee Rates).
