INTERNSHIP IN ECONOMICS
Note: An internship in Economics is not equivalent to a regular
job but rather is a part of your academic preparation for a
major in economics. Thus, credit is not given just for having
a job.
As a course, the requirements for successful completion of
internship include:
• Specifically stated goals
•
Two reports during the internship period describing your progress
on the job
•
A mid-term and final report by your supervisor reporting on what
you are doing and how well you have been doing it
•
A final report describing how what you have learned as a result
of the internship relates to what you have learned in your economics
courses
The internship is graded on a pass/fail basis and must be completed
during the term in which you are registered for the course. No
incompletes will be given; if all of the required reports are not
submitted prior to the end of that term, a fail grade will be given.
To qualify for an internship a student must have an overall GPA
of 2.8. Students may take up to six credits for work in internship
and independent study combined. Econ 4397, Half-time Internship,
is equivalent to 20 hours per week for 15 weeks. Econ 4497, Full-time
Internship, is equivalent to 40 hours per week for 15 weeks. The
actual hours worked must be verified by your supervisor.
