DIRECTORS' WELCOME INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS  
INTERN EMPLOYERS INTERNSHIP IN ACCOUNTING  

REQUIREMENTS for Acct 3196, Internship in Accounting 

  1. Students must have been admitted to candidacy as an Accounting major prior to participating in on-campus interviews.
  2. Student must also have completed Intermediate I and upper division Accounting core courses most related to the area of employment (example: Taxation for a tax internship).
  3. Students must submit a job application file consisting of a current resume, contact information and Student Learning Objectives to the Director.
  4. Students must participate in scheduled internship job interviews, typically held during fall semester. (Please keep the Director informed of the status of job interviews, and the general progress of the application process between the student and potential internship employers.)
  5. Once an internship is obtained, see the internship director for a permission number to register for Acct 3196. Reminder, although the course is variable credit (2-6 credits, dependant on the number of hours worked) there is a minimum 200 hours of work experience required to receive credit for Acct 3196.
  6. Complete the Placement Agreement form with employer, and submit copy of this document to the Director. Student interns and employers negotiate the general terms and conditions of employment including starting date, ending date, weekly schedule, and level of compensation.
  7. Complete and submit to the Director the two written reports on the scheduled dates and at least one final work performance evaluation (employer or LSBE form is acceptable) upon completion of your internship program.
  8. At the end of your internship, fill out the Worksite Evaluation and return it to the Director.
