On-Campus Technology Activities

Purpose of Academic Technologists Meeting

The Technology Program Director meets at least once a month with the leadership team from ITSS and other academic technologists (directors and coordinators). These meetings are to share information and improve the support and services to UMD's academic units. A typical meeting will cover: recent technology updates; faculty training opportunities (e.g., tech camp, technophytes, department visits), and top issues (e.g., authentication, best practices; problem identification/tracking/resolution, and ways to improve communication between academic technologists and ITSS (e.g., technical info; current problems reporting; system monitoring; change management, etc.)

Any agenda items members of the Labovitz School of Business and Economics would like to see discussed in this forum should contact the Technology Program Director, Don Krueger, dkrueger@d.umn.edu.

About the Faculty Technology Team:

The Faculty Technology Team (FTT) is attended by Linda Deneen, Director
of ITSS, and run by Barb Johnson. Also regularly attending are members
of ITSS faculty tech support team. Several faculty members have been
invited to attend also to provide a forum for discussion around the
technology needs of faculty.

Topics discussed in the Faculty Technology Team meetings include: new
technology learning opportunities for faculty (workshops, seminars,
etc.); recent technology updates provided by ITSS, as well as best
practices in technology usage or support.

It is expected that the faculty and technology directors attending the
FTT meetings will contribute to training opportunities for faculty at
some time during the year.
