Welcome to the University of Minnesota Duluth Financial Markets Program Home Page. I invite you to learn about all this exciting program has to offer, and to contact me with any questions or comments you may have. My knowledge and understanding of the financial markets is deep and diverse. I began my career as a runner on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 1987, and am privileged to have gained a "ground-up" understanding of the markets. I have over twelve years of hands-on experience starting in the back office and progressing into a portfolio manager. I have also worked in three major money centers of the world; Chicago, New York and London. During two years of teaching at New York University, I conducted a lecture series that examined how the financial markets work. We explored some of the basic theories of sound financial market analysis, focusing mainly on techniques market professionals use to make more informed investment decisions. Some of these techniques include fundamental analysis, technical analysis, trading techniques, risk management, risk-return profiling and risk budgeting. The University of Minnesota Duluth's Financial Markets Program is a unique, forward-thinking program which utilizes strategic alliances with members of the local business community. This provides our students with an education they can use today, and can continue to use tomorrow. -Joseph K. Artim, |
