What's New at LSBE

More reasons for all of us to celebrate!!
(return to main news page)

In the spring of 2002, LSBE launched its MBA Program at the University of Minnesota Rochester. This is an innovative program and a joint effort between LSBE and the Rochester campus. The number of students admitted to the program has grown steadily. The program has been very well received by folks in the Rochester area. The first graduating class from this program will go through commencement in the spring of 2004.

In the summer of 2002, LSBE hired Don Krueger as our first Technology Program Director. Don comes to LSBE after many years of IT experience in the private sector. He has been instrumental in developing and focusing the technology efforts within LSBE. Through his leadership, LSBE will soon be opening a new state-of-the-art mini-technology lab for use by LSBE students. We will also be starting our Laptop/Statistic’s program before the end of March 2003. Many other technology initiatives have also been undertaken in the last several months. Don has also been extremely helpful in assisting LSBE students, faculty and staff in meeting their technology needs. We are extremely fortunate to have someone with Don’s abilities and background on board with us. The funding to hire Don and begin the host of technology efforts within LSBE comes from a technology fee assessed all students in LSBE. A technology fee is charged to students in all collegiate units within UMD.

In the spring of 2002, the LSBE chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was formed. Only business schools that are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business International (AACSB) can sponsor chapters of Beta Gamma Sigma. Beta Gamma Sigma is the business school equivalent of Phi Betta Kappa. The second class of students will be inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma in April of 2003.
