9:30am – 10:45am Soft Skills Panel Discussion Questions

• Beyond technical competence, what are the “soft” skills I will need to get ahead?
• What can I do while a student to enhance my (non-technical) “soft skills”?
• What does it take to be effective in getting things done in an organizational setting?
• Are writing skills really all that important?
• What is expected of me with regard to appearance, manners, etiquette, and
• other behavioral expectations.
• Dealing with difficult people—am I really going to have to be good at this?

11:00am – 12:15pm Community Service Panel Discussion Questions

• Do employers really care?
• Why should I (as a student) care about community service?
• What are some ways I can get involved in civic/community organizations?
• What will my employer expect me to do?
• How to maximize the benefits of your community involvement.

2:00pm – 3:15pm Global Competition Panel Discussion Questions

• Globalization--- what is it and does it really have a big impact on Minnesota businesses?
• What do the opponents of liberal trade policies have to say? …the supporters?
• How are businesses changing to become world class competitors? What else needs to happen?
• As a future employee, what will I need to know?
