LSBE Technology Projects Approved and Funded

The Following LSBE Technology Projects have been recommended for
approval by the LSBE Technology Group. All of these were approved
by
Dean
Knudsen.
Spring 2004 Grant Proposals:
- Hire Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for 6-7 hours a week
for assisting in the beginning MIS Course.
- Renewal of the annual subscription to the Microsoft Development
Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) for the academic year of
2004-05.
- Purchase of a Sony DVD and CD-RW Firewire USB for quick/efficient
backing up of systems to be repaired by the LSBE Technology
staff.
- Approved funding for the hiring of several
undergraduate students to assist Don Krueger in the Technology
Program to continually achieve a high quality of technology
services for LSBE Students, Staff, and Faculty.
- Completion of wireless access
through out the Labovitz School of Business and Economics.
- Added 10 additional wireless cards to
the student loaner laptops now raising the number of wireless
laptops to 20.
- Purchased
50 user licenses for McGraw Hill's On-Line Homework Manager
to be utilized as a trial basis for Karen Salmela's Managerial
Accounting class.
- Acquired a Gateway M275 laptop
for demonstration purposes to show LSBE students, who purchase
a gateway laptop, the capabilities of the product.
- Purchased an Intel Xeon 3.0 GHz Web/Application
Server to be used in all the FMIS classes that
have server components.
Past
Proposals
- Hire the LSBE Technology Program Director.
- Hire the services
of a consulting firm to assist in creating and maintaining the
LSBE Website.
- Purchase 15 laptops for the LSBE Laptop Loaner
Program.
- Update Accounting Department laptop for use in their
Laptop Initiative Program.
- Purchase two external drives and
five copies of Adobe Acrobat to assist students in creating
electronic portfolios.
- Create a multi-purpose Technology Mini-Lab
within LSBE for use by LSBE students.
- Purchase 30 laptops and
carts for moving and storage and 30 copies of Microsoft Office
for use in teaching the computer
oriented LSBE Statistics course and other quantitative/research methods courses
within LSBE.
- Provide secretarial and discretionary supplies, expense
and equipment funding to support the LSBE Technology Program.
- Fund the development and implementation of an LSBE on-line
course offering survey.
- Provide recognition awards for the three
Technology Program Interns.
- Subscribe to the Microsoft Developer
Network Academic Alliance.
