SOCC: The Student Organization Coordinating Council is composed of two representatives, selected by the clubs themselves, from each of the LSBE student organizations. One of its key functions is to provide a link to the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce "Business by Degrees" Committee on behalf of all students who have majors affiliated with one of the four LSBE departments. This link to the Chamber allows students to participate in career shadowing opportunities with area businesses and other organizations and in the annual student awards breakfast program, jointly sponsored and held with the Chamber, the College of St. Scholastica, and Lake Superior College. SOCC selects the LSBE Faculty-Member-of-the-Year and recognizes the outstanding contributions made to the education of students with this award. SOCC also coordinates other events for students, such as a Fall Social, and encourages collaboration among the student organizations when individual club activities are of benefit to all. In addition, there may be times when SOCC will be called upon to provide student input into various issues or plans within LSBE.
