SCSE maintains licenses for ArcGIS, JMP Genomics (SAS), and MATLAB (starting in 2014). Instructions for downloading and installing are provided below.
ArcGIS Download and Installation
1. Check if your computer fulfills ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 system requirements.
Please refer to ESRI's ArcGIS 10.1 system requirements
2. Download the Software
You can download the ArcGIS 10.1 ISOs at https://netfiles.umn.edu/u-spatial/umn_users/Software/esri/Desktop/10.1/ArcGIS_Desktop_101_129026.iso
(This link requires an x500 and password. Once entered, a download will begin!)
There is also a service pack for ArcDesktop 10.1. Run this file ArcGISDesktop101sp1.msp
The file in the "ArcGIS Desktop" folder is required for installation.
Within that folder, both ArcGIS 10 and 10.1 are available. To get the most recent v10.1, select the file ArcGIS_Desktop_101_129026.iso
Install the Software
The installation file(s) downloaded above are DVD images (.iso files) that you will use to create install DVDs. After download has completed, double click the the file to start your DVD burning software utility. After you have burned the images to DVDs, begin installation from the DVD, and follow the installation steps as prompted by the installers.
During installation when you are asked to select a product, select ArcGIS (Concurrent Use), and for License Manager, enter the license server listed below.
ArcInfo License server: swlicense2.oit.umn.edu
Run the Software
If you are off campus you will need to use VPN (Virtual Private Network) http://www.oit.umn.edu/vpn/ in order to connect to the license server each time you run this software.

If you are not sure which version of JMP you have, you can find this as follows:
Mac: On the JMP menu, select JMP -> About JMP...
Win: On the JMP menu, select Help -> About JMP...
Problems with File Downloads?
JMP license files are small text files, downloaded via NetFiles. NetFiles requires login with your University of Minnesota internetID and password.
Within Netfiles, find and download the file with a filename that starts with JMP902_ or JMP10_. Save it to your desktop or somewhere where it will be easy to find. You may need to right-click (Win) or control-click (Mac) on the filename and select "Save to Desktop". If you are asked if you want to open or save, select save.
To Apply the New License
Starting 11/16/2013, JMP users who have not updated license files will see a message "Your JMP License Has Expired". If the date is beyond 11/16/2013 and you do not see such a warning, your license has already been updated, and you do not need to do anything else.
If the license has already expired:
1. Start JMP
2. select "Open License" on the expiration warning screen.
3. At the prompt, navigate to the SID file (license file) that you saved above.
If your license has not yet expired:
1. Start JMP
2. From the File menu, select New > Script to open a script window.
3. Enter this line: renew license();
4. From the Edit menu, select Run Script.
5. In the resulting Renew Your JMP License window, click Open License.
6. At the prompt, navigate to the SID file (license file) that you saved above.
This software will have a collegiate license starting in mid-2014. Please check back for instructions.
